Additional Information:
1. Travel to Mexico:
• Passport. A valid U.S. Passport is now
required for travel to Mexico. If you do not have a passport,
go to http://travel.state.gov/passport/
for details. Current processing time is 10 weeks, but you
can also pay for expedited service, which takes approximately
two weeks.
• Money. The currency in Mexico is the
peso; however, American dollars are often accepted, especially
at the resort itself. Please note that even if you pay with
U.S. currency, your change will be returned in pesos.
• Food/Water Safety. Although the most
common concern about travel to Mexico is the safety of the
food and water, this should not be a problem at Maya Tulum.
The resort is known for its delicious and healthy food, and
takes every precaution to keep it safe. Food is washed in
purified water; ice cubes and beverages are made with purified
water.
• Insurance. Because the trip fee is nonrefundable,
you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance so you
can receive reimbursement if for some reason you are not able
to attend. Although you will need to research which insurance
best meets your needs, one that our trip coordinator has used
in the past is MEDEX Assist at www.medexassist.com.
2. Packing List: Please check back after July
1, 2007.
3. Additional Expenses:
Your trip fee covers five nights and six days
at Maya Tulum, all meals, the workshop itself as well as all
ceremonies and activities associated with it. Also included
is transport between the resort and Cancun International Airport—
provided your flights are scheduled within a particular window
of time (your registration confirmation letter will give you
these details).
Not included in your trip fee:
• Airfare
• A side trip to the local ruins (approximately $45)
• Massages and treatments available at the resort’s
spa (credit cards accepted)
• Tips for resort staff
4. Special Considerations:
• Alcohol. Even though alcoholic beverages
are available at the resort, workshop participants must agree
not to consume alcohol for the duration of the workshop.
• Dietary requirements: It is our understanding
that Maya Tulum’s buffet meals are delicious, nutritious
and offer a wide variety of choices, including many options
for vegetarians. However, if you have very specific dietary
requirements, please understand that there is no opportunity
to order special meals.
• Shared Space: Although the resort is
secluded—bordered by the ocean on one side and the jungle
on the other—we will be sharing it with another group.
This means that we will not have complete environmental control
over things like noise levels, perfume use, and potential
allergens like bug spray.
• Adding on Extra Days: If you should
wish to arrive early or stay for a few extra days, contact
the resort directly to arrange. Contact Melanie, the resort’s
representative in the U.S., at 888-515-4580.
